Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Manoj Jarange, a Maratha quota activist, issued a strong warning to the state government on Tuesday, stating that severe consequences will follow if elections proceed without addressing the Maratha community's demand for reservation. Jarange announced a large gathering, known as the Dasara Melava, in Narayangadh of Beed district, urging Marathas to come together on the day of the Dasara festival. Emphasizing that he will not compromise on any demands, including the withdrawal of criminal cases against community members statewide, Jarange warned that the state government will face backlash in future elections if they continue to ignore Maratha demands. He stressed the importance of unity and determination among Maratha community members in their fight for reservation, highlighting that it goes beyond just reservation - it is about dignity and equality for the community. Jarange criticized certain individuals within the ruling party for creating obstacles and not recognizing the Maratha community entirely as ‘Kunbis’, pushing for reservation within the existing OBC quota. Despite assurances from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's government to resolve the issue, progress has been slow, leading to increased dissatisfaction within the community. Several political parties, including the ruling coalition, have yet to solidify their stance on the matter.
